Happy 2014…Ready To Rock-And-Roll?

As we close 2013…I want to wish you a sterling 2014!

With the power and clout of our 80,000+ property management leaders who are part of our 19 LinkedIn groups and the 5000+ new leaders joining our LinkedIn groups every 30 days—our groups will always be about sharing knowledge and learning, with a focus on what’s working and what’s not in our industry—related to property management emerging trends, products, services and industry suppliers/vendors.

And the more you give in your ideas, knowledge and smart-thinking…the more you will get/receive from other property management leaders in exchange.

As each of you wind down 2013 and as you are focusing on your 2014, here are some thoughts for the new year:

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Myself and my PowerHour team have had the privilege of coaching some of the finest professionals in our industry since 1995—in 11 time zones around the world, who are at the top of our sector, leading and setting the pace. Each of them are unique in their styles, temperaments, goals and desires. And they all have some very similar and common denominators.

Here are the 13 common denominators of dynamic leaders and leadership – which I want to share with you.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

#1. They have a strong desire to excel.

#2. They embrace and focus on their strengths and are aware of their areas of growth and blind spots.

#3. They set S.M.A.R.T goals!

#4. They are aware of their Critical Success Factors…and their KPIs.

#5. They read. A lot. And are always focused on doing their best…and giving their best.

#6. They have a “growth” mindset as opposed to a “fixed” mindset. And they understand Root Cause.

#7. They consistently make time for themselves and reflect on their work, their level of service and impact they are having on others.

#8. They are service driven—bringing value to their property management clients and residents/tenants.

#9. They delegate effectively…leveraging the 4 Ds.

#10. They have established their personal ‘rhythm’ for their best day, week and month. And time with family—is always a priority.

#11. They bounce back faster than the rest! They are OK with both “successes” as well as “failures”…always learning from both.

#12. They are ongoing continuous learners.

#13. They live in gratitude!

From the list of 13 above…which ones are already on your list for 2014? Which ones do you plan to add?

++

May 2014 bring you joy, hope and peace!

Myself and our PowerHour team look forward to being part of your journey!

The Coach…and your LinkedIn group owner/moderator

Focused on resident safety and the steps for reducing apartment crime…below is a recent property management webcast I am certain you will enjoy—and learn from.

CEO Webcast Series – Reducing Apartment Crime While Increasing Resident Safety

This webcast includes 60 minutes of a captivating discussion focused on crime prevention, courtesy officers, neighborhood watch programs and policy enforcement. This informative discussion focuses on how to prevent crime and create resident safety programs at your multifamily communities.

Webcast Discussion Highlights

A. Where should you look first to deter crime at your multifamily apartments?

B. What are the weak spots at your apartment communities that make them criminal targets?

C. Leasing, touring and onsite team safety, what are your company policies and procedures?

D. Are you effectively partnering with law enforcement and government agencies? Why do crime prevention programs fail?

E. What are the operational best practices for training your team to handle resident safety, crime prevention and effective risk management?

The presenter on this webcast is Brent Sobol, an NAA award-winning owner/operator of multifamily real estate in Atlanta since 1995 and also Founder & Executive Director of Legacy Community Housing Corporation, a nonprofit dedicated to crime-free multifamily housing. Directly overseeing the repositioning of 12 distressed apartment communities, he is a frequent contributor to UNITS Magazine on crime prevention and author of the article: “A 10-Step Action Plan To Suppress Crime At Apartments.” Brent shares his techniques for successful management of high crime apartment communities with a process he calls Turnaround Template, to systematically reposition apartment communities and take them from unhealthy to award winning; addressing the crime and community safety component is his #1 priority on takeover day. A 2-time NAA Paragon Award winner, he was named 2009 Citizen of the Year by the Atlanta Police Department for reducing crime in apartment communities. Brent consults, trains, and partners with apartment owners & management companies that have crime problems. Surf his website [http://www.BrentSobol.com ] for free crime fighting resources.
